About Lisa Christine

As a youngster, I went to a traditional church attending Sunday school, performing in the Christmas play, and hunting for Easter eggs on the church lawn. There was never a time when I doubted God existed. I never took too much stock in the big bang theory or the seeping ozone layer. The Tooth Fairy's miraculous intuition is another story, however.

I believed God created everything I saw and that He was in heaven waiting to talk to me. He had a son, Jesus, and that I should pray to them. These facts did not become personal until our family started attending a non-denominational church.

The pastor spoke about the Holy Spirit and what Jesus' death has done for the human race, concepts my 14-year-old brain had never grasped before. It's mind boggling to comprehend the depth of God's decision to send Jesus to die in my place. Jesus faced humiliation, excruciating pain, torment, and isolation in order for us to live an abundant life free of regret and guilt. These eye-opening revelations led me to accept Jesus as my personal Savior. Now with my newly found knowledge, I began to wonder why God purposely chose me to be on this planet. What did He have in store for me? Was I going to like it?

For many years now I have been taking steps on the Christian journey, sometimes with great difficulty, other moments with considerable ease but no matter the level or degree of effort, I continue my search to know more about God, to recognize His ways, and to accept my responsibilities as His daughter.

Recently, one of those responsibilities has been the importance of daily and deliberately spending time listening and praying to the Lord and reading the Bible. My desire is to honestly say that God is the treasure of my heart, not writing, sleeping, or the zillions of errands and tasks that seem to try to distract me from doing what I was created for: to know the Father who delights in me.
